While Zitadel provides a possibility to restrict certain languages to be
used, the corresponding list could not be retrieved in the settings
service (v2). This blocked login v2 implementations from respecting the
list and they would always use all available languages.
# How the Problems Are Solved

# Which Problems Are Solved
Enterprise email link scanners (used by organizations for security)
pre-fetch URLs in emails to check for malicious content. In Login V2,
email verification codes are automatically redeemed when the
verification page loads. This causes link scanners to inadvertently
consume one-time verification codes before users can click them,
resulting in "code already used" errors.
# How the Problems Are Solved
- Changed the default behaviour so that verification codes are **not**
auto-submitted on page load — users must click a Submit button to redeem
the code
- Added a new environment variable `NEXT_PUBLIC_AUTO_SUBMIT_CODE` that
can be set to `true` to re-enable auto-submission for instances where
link scanners are not a concern
- The env var is named generically so it can be extended to other
auto-submit flows (e.g. Email OTP) in the future

# Which Problems Are Solved
This PR refactors the SAML Post binding flow to address issues with
payloads exceeding browser cookie size limits (typically ~4KB).
Previously, the SAML form data was serialized into a cookie, and the
user was redirected to an intermediate /saml-post page to render the
form. This approach failed for large SAML assertions.
# How the Problems Are Solved
The new implementation bypasses cookies entirely for the payload
transfer. Server actions now return the form data directly to the
client, which immediately renders and submits the form.
- Direct Data Transfer: Updated `startIdentityProviderFlow` to return an
object { url, fields } instead of a redirect URL when the next step is
formData.
- Server Actions: Updated redirectToIdp, sendLoginname, and
completeAuthFlow to propagate this samlData object to the client.
- Client-Side Auto-Submission: Added a new AutoSubmitForm component that
renders a hidden form with the provided fields and automatically submits
it to the IdP on mount.

# Which Problems Are Solved
In the context of moving our datastore to relational tables, Identity
Provider Intents have no definition of a relational table nor any DB API
that can be used to store the IDP intents as relational objects.
# How the Problems Are Solved
The PR follows the guidelines left in #11190
- A table `zitadel.identity_provider_intents` is created: it defines its
relational constraints (foreign keys) with the other tables, as well as
an ENUM to represent the state of the intent.
- An IDP Intent repository has been created, which offers CRUD
operations implemented as `Create`, `Get`, `Update` and `Delete` methods
for the IDP intent.
- The repository also defines all columns and conditions useful for
performing DB operations on the IDP intents.
- DB mocks have been added as well to ease testing on the `domain`
package.
- Reduction functions have been implemented for the existing IDP events
so to keep the relational table in sync with the event store.
# Additional Changes
To allow testing LDAP intent flow, the `Session.FetchUser()` method has
been extracted to a separate file. A corresponding mock has been created
as well in `fetch_user_mock.go`. The files are mutually excluded and
added at build time through go build tags: the mock is added when the
`integration` tag is specified, while the real implementation is added
when the same tag IS NOT added to the build tags.

# Which Problems Are Solved
Streams allow differentiating logs produced by different components of
Zitadel.
# How the Problems Are Solved
The `backend/v3/instrumentation/logging` package now exposes convenience
function for setting and getting a logger from the context. As well as
high-level functions to emit log records at various levels. When
constructing a new logger a "stream" needs to be specified:
- **runtime**: General runtime logs, such as startup and shutdown
messages. Default for logs that do not belong to the other categories.
- **request**: Logs for incoming API and HTTP requests.
- **event_handler**: Logs for event handling in projections.
- **queue**: Logs for the job queue processing.
- **event_pusher**: Logs for event pushing to the database. Disabled by
default, contains sensitive information.
Each line from the returned logger contains a `stream` field as well as
a `version` field with the current Zitadel version.
## Runtime config
Streams can be enabled by passing an array of stream names in the
runtime config. Because some log streams may contain sensitive data
(especially events), it is now also possible to mask values by their
key.
# Additional Changes
- Wrap `slogctx` in the `logging` package. (Except API error converter
packages, because of import cycle)
- Add some docs to `logging` package so other devs understand how to add
logging to Zitadel
- Add `logging.OnError` and `logging.WithError` helper functions with
`Panic()` and `Fatal()` methods, to preserve current calls in the `cmd`
packages.
- Add instance context extractor.
- Only output request details in the request info log. Request ID
remains propagated through context.
- Moved middleware functionality into protocol specific packages.
- Removed setting of URI to context in metric middleware. There were ony
setters and no getters. (Unused value)
- Reuse a single statusWriter in the middleware package for middlewares
that need to know the response status.

This pull request introduces several improvements and security
enhancements to the documentation build scripts in
`apps/docs/scripts/fetch-remote-content.mjs`, as well as updates to the
test configuration in `apps/docs/package.json` and
`apps/docs/project.json`. The main focus is on enabling local
development workflows, improving safety when handling refs and file
paths, and making the codebase more robust against injection and
traversal attacks.
**Security and validation improvements:**
* Added `safeLog` and `isValidRef` helper functions to sanitize logs and
validate refs, preventing log and command injection vulnerabilities.
* Updated logic for reading local files and external content to ensure
paths are securely resolved and checked, preventing directory traversal
and unauthorized file access.
**Local development and workflow enhancements:**
* Refactored content fetching logic to support copying local content and
public assets when the source ref matches the local branch, enabling
easier local testing and development.

# Which Problems Are Solved
The current back-channel logout notification still used a single
projection handler for handling terminating sessions and notifying the
necessary clients. This can lead to back pressure and delayed
notifications.
# How the Problems Are Solved
The handler now only creates a job in the (river) worker queue to handle
the notification.
The worker will then search for all necessary clients to be informed and
create a job for each.
These jobs will then be picked up by the (same) worker(s) again, which
will create, sign and send the logout token to the client. If one
notification fails, this one job will be retired, but others can still
be processed in parallel and ore not affected.
Each successful job will still create an event on the session stating
the successful notification of the client.
The existing `OIDC.DefaultBackChannelLogoutLifetime` configuration has
been deprecated in favor of making it part of the new
`OIDC.BackChannelLogout` config.

This pull request significantly expands and restructures the Kubernetes
deployment documentation for Zitadel. It introduces detailed,
task-focused guides for installation, configuration, ingress, and
database setup, replacing the previous minimal documentation. The new
docs provide comprehensive instructions and best practices for deploying
Zitadel on Kubernetes using Helm, including security, scaling, and high
availability considerations.
The most important changes are:
**Documentation Restructuring and Overview**
- Added a new `index.mdx` providing an overview of the Zitadel Helm
chart, architecture, prerequisites, and quick links to relevant
resources and next steps.
- Removed the old minimal Kubernetes deployment page and replaced it
with a structured, multi-page documentation set.
**Installation and Setup**
- Added an `installation.mdx` guide with step-by-step instructions for
preparing prerequisites, creating Kubernetes secrets, configuring
`values.yaml`, installing the Helm chart, and verifying the deployment.
**Configuration and Best Practices**
- Added a `configuration.mdx` guide covering Helm chart configuration
options, including replica count, container images, security contexts,
external domain setup, secrets management, scaling, autoscaling, pod
disruption budgets, and anti-affinity rules.
**Ingress and Database Configuration**
- Added an `ingress.mdx` guide detailing how to configure Kubernetes
ingress resources for Zitadel and Login containers, including TLS
termination and certificate management.
- Added a `database.mdx` guide explaining how to connect Zitadel to
PostgreSQL with various TLS/security options and how to manage database
credentials and certificates using Kubernetes secrets.
# Which Problems Are Solved

link was not updated when #11166 migrated the docs to be under the
`apps/docs` folder structure, so currently it results in a 404.

Replaces the old link with the correct one featuring the new folder
structure.
This pull request updates the fallback branch logic and improves
handling of branch names in the `fetch-remote-content.mjs` script. The
changes ensure better compatibility with both `main` and `master`
branches, and clarify how documentation versions are labeled.
Branch handling improvements:
* Changed the fallback branch from `fuma-docs` to `main` for fetching
content when a newer version does not exist.
* Updated branch detection logic to recognize both `main` and `master`
as valid primary branches, instead of just `main` and `fuma-docs`.
* Improved local version labeling: if the current branch is `main` or
`master`, it now returns a standardized label (`ZITADEL Docs`) and marks
it as not unreleased; other branches are handled accordingly.
## Todos for release
- [x] Configure Env in docs project on vercel
- [x] Configure Root Path in the docs project on vercel
- [ ] Remove old CSP https://github.com/zitadel/website/pull/1592
## What we did
This pull request migrates the project documentation from the old
`docs/` directory to the new `apps/docs/` directory, introduces a new
documentation system built with Next.js and Fumadocs, and updates all
relevant references, configuration files, and documentation to reflect
this change. It also adds new configuration and ignore files for the new
documentation app, updates CI and linting to exclude the new docs from
certain checks, and revises the contributing guidelines accordingly.
**Documentation System Migration and New Docs App**
* Migrated all documentation from `docs/` to `apps/docs/`, and updated
all references in `README.md`, `CONTRIBUTING.md`, and other files to
point to the new location.

**Configuration and Tooling Updates**
* Updated `.github/workflows/codeql.yml`, `.golangci.yaml`, and
`.github/dependabot.yml` to properly handle the new docs app: excluded
`apps/docs` from certain checks, added npm dependency updates for the
docs app, and excluded generated content.

version for consistency.
**Licensing and Miscellaneous**
* Added `apps/docs/` to the list of licensed directories in
`LICENSING.md`.
These changes ensure the documentation is now maintained in a modern,
scalable system and all project tooling is updated to support the new
structure.

# Which Problems Are Solved
This PR improves our NX caching, especially for the console and api.
It makes sure that if the console is changed the api is also rebuilt and
if the api is changed the functional-ui tests are rerun. It is important
to note this only fixes a subset of our problems.
# How the Problems Are Solved
NX ignores .gitignored files even if they are explicitly added to the
inputs of an NX target. To counteract this one can add these files to a
.nxignore file with a negated pattern.
https://nx.dev/docs/reference/inputs#token-behavior-with-nested-projects
. This solution is not documented per se but can be find in this Github
issue: https://github.com/nrwl/nx/issues/6821 . Further more nx
calculates the hashes of inputs at the start and does not recalculate
them even if a dependency of a target changes. To solve this problem one
needs to use
https://nx.dev/docs/reference/inputs#outputs-of-dependent-tasks . This
comment of an NX developer helped me further to understand the actual
behaviour of NX:
https://github.com/nrwl/nx/issues/33379#issuecomment-3657929455 .
# Additional Changes
Because the functional-ui tests now correctly run again they had to be
fixed. This pr unifies the field names in the user create v1 and v2 ui.
# Additional Context
To document this somewhere, this proposed fix does not work:
https://github.com/nrwl/nx/issues/6821#issuecomment-1309475504 . In my
local testing NX runtime inputs also get executed at the beginning of
the NX loop and ignore subsequent changes by targets. While testing this
fix and browsing through NX code I found this, which could be helpful in
the future and isn't documented: https://github.com/nrwl/nx/pull/31428
# Which Problems Are Solved
- Some mail providers (e.g.: MS Exchange) have deprecated plain auth
# How the Problems Are Solved
Adds XOauth2 auth option to SMPT
- SMTP config now can contain XOAuth2 auth config
- Proto files are updated to have a oneof for configuration selection.
Old fields for configuring plain auth are still available not to create
a breaking change. These can be removed in the future.
- Columns are added to the database to persist the config

# Which Problems Are Solved
The docs and console API generators used an unversioned
`buf.build/grpc-ecosystem/openapiv2` plugin for the code generation. The
latest version has an issue and fails.
# How the Problems Are Solved
- pin the plugin to the latest running version

# Which Problems Are Solved
Duplicate of https://github.com/zitadel/zitadel/pull/11405
- Users migrating from Actions V1 to V2 lack comprehensive documentation
explaining the architectural differences and migration patterns
- The existing migration guide doesn't provide enough context on why
Actions changed and how to map V1 concepts to V2
- No clear reference table mapping common use cases to the appropriate
V2 execution types
# How the Problems Are Solved
- Added a new comprehensive migration guide
(`actions-v1-to-v2-migration.md`) covering:
- Deprecation notice for Actions V1 (sunsetting in ZITADEL V5)
- Architecture deep dive comparing V1 (embedded JavaScript) vs V2
(webhook model)
- Key architectural differences table
- Business benefits of migrating to V2
- Use case mapping table with links to ready-to-deploy Cloudflare Worker
examples
- Detailed flow explanations for Internal Authentication, External
Authentication, Complement Token, and SAML Response customization
