# Which Problems Are Solved
The quickstart only shows the steps to take to get a working zitadel
login into your app with react.
For users with another framework or languages we didn't show how to get
to success fast.
# How the Problems Are Solved
- Adding different frameworks to the qucisktart example
- Make sure the app configurations in the onboarding flow from the
console match the configurations from the examples
- Docs link in console onboarding flow point towards quickstart
- Quickstart accepts framework selector, to pre select a framework from
another page

## Todos for release
- [x] Configure Env in docs project on vercel
- [x] Configure Root Path in the docs project on vercel
- [ ] Remove old CSP https://github.com/zitadel/website/pull/1592
## What we did
This pull request migrates the project documentation from the old
`docs/` directory to the new `apps/docs/` directory, introduces a new
documentation system built with Next.js and Fumadocs, and updates all
relevant references, configuration files, and documentation to reflect
this change. It also adds new configuration and ignore files for the new
documentation app, updates CI and linting to exclude the new docs from
certain checks, and revises the contributing guidelines accordingly.
**Documentation System Migration and New Docs App**
* Migrated all documentation from `docs/` to `apps/docs/`, and updated
all references in `README.md`, `CONTRIBUTING.md`, and other files to
point to the new location.

# Which Problems Are Solved
This PR improves our NX caching, especially for the console and api.
It makes sure that if the console is changed the api is also rebuilt and
if the api is changed the functional-ui tests are rerun. It is important
to note this only fixes a subset of our problems.
# How the Problems Are Solved
NX ignores .gitignored files even if they are explicitly added to the
inputs of an NX target. To counteract this one can add these files to a
.nxignore file with a negated pattern.
https://nx.dev/docs/reference/inputs#token-behavior-with-nested-projects
. This solution is not documented per se but can be find in this Github
issue: https://github.com/nrwl/nx/issues/6821 . Further more nx
calculates the hashes of inputs at the start and does not recalculate
them even if a dependency of a target changes. To solve this problem one
needs to use
https://nx.dev/docs/reference/inputs#outputs-of-dependent-tasks . This
comment of an NX developer helped me further to understand the actual
behaviour of NX:
https://github.com/nrwl/nx/issues/33379#issuecomment-3657929455 .
# Additional Changes
Because the functional-ui tests now correctly run again they had to be
fixed. This pr unifies the field names in the user create v1 and v2 ui.
# Additional Context
To document this somewhere, this proposed fix does not work:
https://github.com/nrwl/nx/issues/6821#issuecomment-1309475504 . In my
local testing NX runtime inputs also get executed at the beginning of
the NX loop and ignore subsequent changes by targets. While testing this
fix and browsing through NX code I found this, which could be helpful in
the future and isn't documented: https://github.com/nrwl/nx/pull/31428

One-time recovery codes are a common multi-factor authentication (MFA)
backup method, letting users access their account if they lose other MFA
devices. Support for recovery codes can also reduce support burden for
users locked out of their accounts and provide a more secure and
reliable form of verification than security questions.
# Which Problems Are Solved
Zitadel currently lacks support for recovery codes.
# How the Problems Are Solved
This PR partially addresses recovery code support in Zitadel.
Importantly, it adds recovery codes as a new 2FA `Factor` and an
additional `Check` type for the Session API.
```
Example recovery code flow:
1. User generates N new recovery codes using `POST /v2/users/{user_id}/recovery_codes`
2. Zitadel hashes and stores these codes and returns the un-hashed codes in the response
3. User creates new session with an additional check: `recoveryCode`
4. Code is checked against hash and, if valid, cannot be used again
5. User attempts to adds N more codes using the same endpoint
6. If `remaining_codes + N <= RecoveryCodes->MaxCount` config value, then recovery codes are added in addition to original codes
7. User can remove all recovery codes using `DEL /v2/users/:userId/recovery_codes`
```
This PR adds:
- [x] Session recovery_code check support on `POST+PATCH /v2/sessions`
endpoints
- [x] Adds `mfa_recovery_code_checked_at` column (default null) to
`projections.sessions8` table
- [x] Support for `SECOND_FACTOR_TYPE_RECOVERY_CODES` as available 2FA
method on login policy
- [x] Support for importing recovery codes in /import code
Missing, will _not_ implement in this PR:
- [ ] Admin console support for displaying Recovery Code settings for
user(s)
- [ ] Zitadel Typescript login support for recovery codes

- [x] Additional unit and integration tests
- [x] Error translations

# Which Problems Are Solved
The api call for adding a mfa/2fa factor was running before creating a
login policy.
# How the Problems Are Solved
A new event emitter `beforeTypeAdd` is responsible for taking in a
callback, and then the parent component (login-policy) checks if a login
policy should be created, and then it is successfully created, calls the
callback.
The callback then adds the mfa/2fa factor as before.

Replaces Turbo by Nx and lays the foundation for the next CI
improvements. It enables using Nx Cloud to speed the up the pipelines
that affect any node package.
It streamlines the dev experience for frontend and backend developers by
providing the following commands:
| Task | Command | Notes |
|------|---------|--------|
| **Production** | `nx run PROJECT:prod` | Production server |
| **Develop** | `nx run PROJECT:dev` | Hot reloading development server
|
| **Test** | `nx run PROJECT:test` | Run all tests |
| **Lint** | `nx run PROJECT:lint` | Check code style |
| **Lint Fix** | `nx run PROJECT:lint-fix` | Auto-fix style issues |
The following values can be used for PROJECT:
- @zitadel/zitadel (root commands)
- @zitadel/api,
- @zitadel/login,
- @zitadel/console,
- @zitadel/docs,
- @zitadel/client
- @zitadel/proto
The project names and folders are streamlined:
| Old Folder | New Folder |
| --- | --- |
| ./e2e | ./tests/functional-ui |
| ./load-test | ./benchmark |
| ./build/zitadel | ./apps/api |
| ./console | ./apps/console (postponed so the PR is reviewable) |
Also, all references to the TypeScript repo are removed so we can
archive it.
# How the Problems Are Solved
- Ran `npx nx@latest init`
- Replaced all turbo.json by project.json and fixed the target configs
- Removed Turbo dependency
- All JavaScript related code affected by a PRs changes is
quality-checked using the `nx affected` command
- We move PR checks that are runnable using Nx into the `check`
workflow. For workflows where we don't use Nx, yet, we restore
previously built dependency artifacts from Nx.
- We only use a single and easy to understand dev container
- The CONTRIBUTING.md is streamlined
- The setup with a generated client pat is orchestrated with Nx
- Everything related to the TypeScript repo is updated or removed. A
**Deploy with Vercel** button is added to the docs and the
CONTRIBUTING.md.
# Additional Changes
- NPM package names have a consistent pattern.
- Docker bake is removed. The login container is built and released like
the core container.
- The integration tests build the login container before running, so
they don't rely on the login container action anymore. This fixes
consistently failing checks on PRs from forks.
- The docs build in GitHub actions is removed, as we already build on
Vercel.

provider) and "身份认证提供者" (identity supplier) in the Chinese translation
files could lead to confusion among users.
- Missing translations for terminology related to identity providers
could hinder user experience and understanding.
# How the Problems Are Solved
- Unified the terms "身份认证提供商" and "身份认证提供者" to consistently use
"身份认证提供者" across all Chinese translation files.
- Added necessary translations to ensure that all relevant terms related
to identity providers are accurately represented in the Chinese
localization.
# Additional Changes
- Improved overall readability and clarity in the Chinese translations
by ensuring consistent terminology for identity-related phrases
throughout the application.
- Complete the missing translations.
# Additional Context
If I have missed any translations, please point them out, and I would be
happy to complete them.

the word instance.
# How the Problems Are Solved
Removed the extra I.
# Which Problems Are Solved
When a SAML IDP is created, the signing algorithm defaults to
`RSA-SHA1`.
This PR adds the functionality to configure the signing algorithm while
creating or updating a SAML IDP. When nothing is specified, `RSA-SHA1`
is the default.
Available options:
* RSA_SHA1
* RSA_SHA256
* RSA_SHA512
# How the Problems Are Solved
By introducing a new optional config to specify the Signing Algorithm.

This PR fixes a problem for the SAML provider in console where the
binding selection was not correctly applied when editing existing
providers
# Which Problems Are Solved
- SAML provider binding selection was not correctly applied when editing
existing providers
- Form used untyped reactive forms leading to potential runtime errors
- Hardcoded enum handling made the code fragile to API changes
# How the Problems Are Solved
- Created reusable utility functions (enum.utils.ts) that properly
convert between numeric enum values (from backend) and string keys (for
form controls)
- Improved type safety: Migrated from
UntypedFormGroup/UntypedFormControl to strongly typed
FormGroup<SAMLProviderForm> with FormControl<T>
# Which Problems Are Solved
This PR fixes an issue where all features where patched, instead of a
single one. This led to instance overrides which were not intended.
With this change, an update is executed whenever a toggle is hit, only
containing the respective feature, not all.
# How the Problems Are Solved
The console application was overriding the feature settings as an entire
request. A toggle change is now only changing the desired and targeted
feature using partial patches.
# Additional Context
Closes#10459

Fix: Pin buf protoc plugin versions to resolve runtime protobuf
compatibility issues
# Which Problems Are Solved
The console application was experiencing a runtime error "requireUtf8 is
not a function" when the authentication service attempted to deserialize
protobuf messages. This error started occurring recently due to
automatic updates of buf protoc plugins.
# How the Problems Are Solved
pinning of the versions in buf.gen.yml and package.json
# Which Problems Are Solved
Some events that are now unused are clogging the event queue from time
to time.
# How the Problems Are Solved
Remove the events described in #10458
# Additional Changes
- Updated `stringer` and `enumer` in Makefile target `core_generate_all`
to resolve generated files compilation issues
# Notes
It looks like there are a lot of changes, but most of it is fixing
translation files. I suggest doing a review per-commit

## Problem
The mat-icon-button in the actions flow-type section had a shrinking
hover background. The hover effect was not displaying properly and
appeared constrained.
## Root Cause
The margin rules were being applied to all `span` elements, including
the Material button's internal elements (like `.mat-mdc-button-label`),
which interfered with the button's hover background positioning.
## Solution
- Changed the span selector from `span` to `> span` to target only
direct children
- Added specific margin reset for the button (`margin-right: 0`)
- Added margin reset for the icon inside the button
- This allows the Material button to use its default hover behavior
## Testing
- [x] No visual regressions in text spacing or layout
- [x] Button hover background now displays as a proper circle
- [x] Other buttons on the page remain unaffected
- [x] Matches the behavior of working buttons in trigger sections
## Type of Change
- [x] Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an UI issue)
