Gayathri VijayanandGitHub 6ad1ef859b fix: set refresh token in the RetrieveIdentityIntentResponse (#11613)
# Which Problems Are Solved

This PR adds support for storing and retrieving refresh tokens from
external identity providers during the IDP intent flow.

# How the Problems Are Solved

* Updated `idp.proto` (v2 and v2beta): added an optional `refresh_token`
field to `IDPOAuthAccessInformation`, which, in turn, is used in
`RetrieveIdentityProviderIntentResponse`
* Added the `IDPRefreshToken` field to the IDP intent `SucceededEvent`
struct, and updated the corresponding constructor to set the refresh
token
* Added the `IDPRefreshToken` field to `IDPIntentWriteModel`, and
updated `reduceOAuthSucceededEvent` to populate refresh token from
events
* Updated `tokensForSucceededIDPIntent` function to extract and encrypt
the refresh token from IDP session, if set
* Updated `idpOAuthTokensToPb` function to decrypt refresh token before
returning to clients
* Updated unit and integration tests

# Additional Changes
Updated the link to the JWT IDP docs linked in the Console

e41b70b1e3 feat(api): allow specifying access token type for user of type machine (#11599)
# Which Problems Are Solved

The user service v2 didn't allow the specify or change the access token
type for users of type machine and referred to using the management API,
which in return was already deprecated and linked to the user service.

# How the Problems Are Solved

Added a possibility to specify the access token type in the creation and
update request.

93a4ed8857 chore: rename authorization to role assignment (#11588)
# Which Problems Are Solved

As part of the naming consistency initiative, the terms Authorization,
User grants, internal authorization and other similar terms that are
used in the context of assigning project roles to users are replaced by
Role Assignments in the UI, API docs, and documentation.

# How the Problems Are Solved

By replacing the following terms with Role Assignments in API docs,
Console UI, and guides.

- Authorization
- internal authorization
- external authorization
- User Grant
- Roles and Authorizations

By adding a note in the API docs to make it clear that Authorization
within the context of Authorization Service API refers to role
assignments, not to OAuth authorization as it is still used in the APIs.

By updating some screenshots in documentation / guides to show "Role
Assignments" instead of "Authorizations" in the UI.

ca6bd9d6a2 fix: added login_hint to the idp intent (#11552)
# Which Problems Are Solved

In login V2, when the user started the login flow of an external IDP,
there was no login_hint passed to the external provider. This required
the user to enter their username again. Whilst they already entered it
in Zitadel. By adding the `login_hint` parameter, the username should
already be filled in on the external idp.

# How the Problems Are Solved

Pass the `login_hint` parameter to the external idp.

# Additional Changes

Also added the `login_hint` to the event-store for audit trailing.

b0609aa861 feat(api): return allowed_languages (#11553)
# Which Problems Are Solved

While Zitadel provides a possibility to restrict certain languages to be
used, the corresponding list could not be retrieved in the settings
service (v2). This blocked login v2 implementations from respecting the
list and they would always use all available languages.

# How the Problems Are Solved

- Retrieve the list when checking the instance and pass it into the
context.
- Return it as part of the existing `GetGeneralSettingsResponse`
- This allows us to remove an additional query in some other cases /
endpoints.

1f0d54a978 chore(docs): User (Human) naming consistency (#11512)
# Which Problems Are Solved

Naming inconsistencies - User (Human)

# How the Problems Are Solved

Most of the occurrences have not been changed. `User (Human)` was mostly
changed when talking about code objects and where I felt it was
necessary to distinguish them from machine users.

When both human and machine user occurrences were found, the machine
user has been changed to service account (see

d8ea041c56 docs: introduce versioned docs and migrate to fuma (#11166)
## Todos for release

- [x] Configure Env in docs project on vercel
- [x] Configure Root Path in the docs project on vercel
- [ ] Remove old CSP https://github.com/zitadel/website/pull/1592

## What we did

This pull request migrates the project documentation from the old
`docs/` directory to the new `apps/docs/` directory, introduces a new
documentation system built with Next.js and Fumadocs, and updates all
relevant references, configuration files, and documentation to reflect
this change. It also adds new configuration and ignore files for the new
documentation app, updates CI and linting to exclude the new docs from
certain checks, and revises the contributing guidelines accordingly.

**Documentation System Migration and New Docs App**

* Migrated all documentation from `docs/` to `apps/docs/`, and updated
all references in `README.md`, `CONTRIBUTING.md`, and other files to
point to the new location.

791d0587aa feat(action v2): add JWT and JWE payload type options (#11196)
# Which Problems Are Solved

The payload in actions V2 is currently sent as JSON to the target
endpoint. It might get exposed to intermediary infrastructure or logging
systems.
For these scenarios there needs to be an application-layer encryption,
where the provider of the endpoint can define an key to be used for the
encryption.

# How the Problems Are Solved

- Added an additional option to the target to specify the payload type:
`JSON` (current and default), `JWT`, `JWE` (api and console)
- added endpoints to upload and manage public keys (to be used for
encryption) for a target
- updated all action v2 executions (interceptors, oidc, saml, ...) to
provide the `GetActiveSigningWebKey` from queries
- implemented jwt and jwe in the exections incl. refactoring of code and
tests
- changes to the authn_keys table:
  - added a `fingerprint` column
  - dropped not null constraint on expiration
- moved the `GetSignerOnce` into its own package to prevent circular
dependencies

Tim MöhlmannandGitHub d2d85bd30e fix(email): accept SMTPUTF8 addresses (#11115)
# Which Problems Are Solved

Zitadel only accepted ASCII email addresses, while some users need to
enter internationalized addresses. For example `mö[email protected]`

# How the Problems Are Solved

- Use `net/mail` to validate email addresses, instead of a custom regex.
`net/mail` correctly accepts UTF-8 characters.
- In the management/v1 API email address validation is removed (only
string limits are applied)

One-time recovery codes are a common multi-factor authentication (MFA)
backup method, letting users access their account if they lose other MFA
devices. Support for recovery codes can also reduce support burden for
users locked out of their accounts and provide a more secure and
reliable form of verification than security questions.

# Which Problems Are Solved

Zitadel currently lacks support for recovery codes.

# How the Problems Are Solved

This PR partially addresses recovery code support in Zitadel.
Importantly, it adds recovery codes as a new 2FA `Factor` and an
additional `Check` type for the Session API.

```
Example recovery code flow:
1. User generates N new recovery codes using `POST /v2/users/{user_id}/recovery_codes`
2. Zitadel hashes and stores these codes and returns the un-hashed codes in the response
3. User creates new session with an additional check: `recoveryCode`
4. Code is checked against hash and, if valid, cannot be used again
5. User attempts to adds N more codes using the same endpoint
6. If `remaining_codes + N <= RecoveryCodes->MaxCount` config value, then recovery codes are added in addition to original codes
7. User can remove all recovery codes using `DEL /v2/users/:userId/recovery_codes`
```
This PR adds:
- [x] Session recovery_code check support on `POST+PATCH /v2/sessions`
endpoints
- [x] Adds `mfa_recovery_code_checked_at` column (default null) to
`projections.sessions8` table
- [x] Support for `SECOND_FACTOR_TYPE_RECOVERY_CODES` as available 2FA
method on login policy
- [x] Support for importing recovery codes in /import code

Missing, will _not_ implement in this PR:
- [ ] Admin console support for displaying Recovery Code settings for
user(s)
- [ ] Zitadel Typescript login support for recovery codes

TODO:
- [x] Additional unit and integration tests
- [x] Error translations

Livio SpringandGitHub c2a0b9d187 feat(api): move instance service to v2 (#10919)
# Which Problems Are Solved

As part of our efforts to simplify the structure and versions of our
APIs, were moving all existing v2beta endpoints to v2 and deprecate
them. They will be removed in Zitadel V5.

# How the Problems Are Solved

- This PR moves instance v2beta service and its endpoints to a
corresponding v2 version. The v2beta service and endpoints are
deprecated.
- The docs are moved to the new GA service and its endpoints. The v2beta
is not displayed anymore.
- The comments and have been improved and, where not already done, moved
from swagger annotations to proto.
- All required fields have been marked with (google.api.field_behavior)
= REQUIRED and validation rules have been added where missing
- `Domain` has been renamed to `CustomDomain` to align with naming
conventions
- `..Query` has been renamed to `..Filter` to align with other services
- The `instance_id` parameter can now passed on all endpoints and is
properly used, but requires `system` permissions. It can be omitted to
use the own instance (identified by context as any other service).
  - The following endpoints are affected:
    - GetInstance
    - UpdateInstance
    - ListCustomDomains
    - AddTrustedDomain
    - RemoveTrustedDomain
    - ListTrustedDomains
- InstanceService has been added the InstanceInterceptor's
`explicitInstanceIdServices` to allow passing the id
- If the instance is not found by id, the error is not directly returned
to prevent enumeration.
- Permissions are checked in the API instead of the interceptor for
these calls.
- Setting the same instance name in the update no longer returns an
error, but the previous change date.

# Which Problems Are Solved

As part of our efforts to simplify the structure and versions of our
APIs, were moving all existing v2beta endpoints to v2 and deprecate
them. They will be removed in Zitadel V5.

# How the Problems Are Solved

- This PR moves the authorization v2beta service and its endpoints to a

deprecated.
- The docs are moved to the new GA service and its endpoints. The v2beta

- The comments and have been improved and, where not already done, moved
from swagger annotations to proto.
- All required fields have been marked with (google.api.field_behavior)
= REQUIRED and validation rules have been added where missing.
- The `organization_id` to create an authorization is now required to be
always passed. There's no implicit fallback to the project's
organization anymore.
- The `user_id` filter has been removed in favor of the recently added
`in_user_ids` filter.
- The returned `Authorization` object has been reworked to return
`project`, `organization` and `roles` as objects like the granted `user`
already was.
- Additionally the `roles` now not only contain the granted `role_keys`,
but also the `display_name` and `group`. To implement this the query has
been updated internally. Existing APIs are unchanged and still return
just the keys.

196eaa84d2 fix(user): auth option while listing user metadata (#10968)
# Which Problems Are Solved

A user from `org A` with `ORG_USER_MANAGER` role in `org B` is unable to
list user metadata for a user in `org B`.

# How the Problems Are Solved

The `auth.option` is set to a specific permission (`user.read`) in the
API definition of `ListUserMetadata`, which causes the interceptors to
check for this specific permission. In this case, there is no specific
check for org membership of a user (from org A) in a target organization
(org B), and hence the call fails even though the user has the necessary
permissions.

This has been fixed by setting the `auth.option` to `authenticated`, and
the necessary [permission checks are handled in the
query-layer](https://github.com/zitadel/zitadel/blob/main/internal/query/user_metadata.go#L173).
